About GATA

About Us

Global Platform for Treatment Advocacy (GATA) is committed to advancing healthcare access for patients of African origin across Europe. Our mission is to uplift patient voices in healthcare policy, reduce disparities in treatment, and counteract stigmatizing beliefs that hinder access to vital care. GATA fosters a supportive environment by providing culturally relevant information on suitable therapies, treatment education, and advocacy to improve treatment adherence and healthcare outcomes.

We aim to build a well-informed network of patients and treatment advocates who can address the diverse needs, interests, and identities of African-origin communities within the EU. Through partnerships and collaborations with committed stakeholders, GATA promotes best practices and shared learning that empower communities. By actively participating in policy discussions and campaigns, we strive to make healthcare more inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable populations.

GATA’s Objectives

Regenerating Patient Perspectives

GATA aims to contribute to the regeneration of perspectives among patients of African origin, valuing their experiences, actions, and impacts on health, treatment, and care policies at local, national, and European levels.

Building an Informed Patient Collective

GATA seeks to establish a network of informed patients and treatment advocates, representing the diversity of needs, interests, backgrounds, and identities of patients of African origin within the broader EU community.

Promoting Treatment Adherence Through Quality Care

GATA strives to reinforce adherence to care among patients by providing high-quality information on suitable therapies, treatment education, and consistent support.

Addressing Inequities in Research Participation

GATA aims to eliminate current disparities in the collaboration of African-origin patients in scientific research and other studies. This involves acknowledging culturally specific needs and the lack of testimonials or evidence that accurately reflects their experiences.

Combating Stigma and Misconceptions Through Campaigns

GATA is committed to running campaigns that challenge harmful stereotypes, stigma, misconceptions, and restrictive cultural and philosophical beliefs that isolate vulnerable patients and hinder their access to diagnostics, treatments, and comprehensive care.

Establishing Partnerships for Shared Learning:

GATA seeks to create partnerships and alliances with committed stakeholders and key players to foster shared educational initiatives based on the exchange of best practices.
