Welcome to the Global Platform for Treatment Advocacy (GATA), dedicated to improving healthcare access for patients of African and European origin affected by sexually transmitted diseases, chronic illnesses, and viral infections like HIV and hepatitis in Europe. Our mission is to reduce disparities in healthcare access for Black and minority ethnic (BME) groups, amplify their voices in healthcare policy, and combat stigma and misconceptions. This workshop, organized by the London-based organization Eatan, was held in Amsterdam and focused on providing an update on the treatment of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and HIV. The primary objective of the event was to share innovative techniques and strategies for raising awareness about transmissible diseases within migrant communities across Europe. The workshop highlighted treatment activism and advocacy efforts aimed at the elimination of HCV, with a special focus on migrant communities in the European Union and neighboring countries. Key topics included policy instruments, best practices, and the collaborative efforts required to address the disparities in healthcare access for vulnerable populations. Attendees were provided with valuable insights into the ongoing work and progress made in the fight against viral hepatitis and tuberculosis in these regions, with an emphasis on actionable steps to strengthen advocacy and support for affected individuals.
